TripAdvisor Traveller RatingBased on 199 reviewsBased on 199 reviews

Surrounded by lush gardens with beautiful riverside accommodation and central to all tourist attractions. It is situated almost in the centre of the Garden Route – it's about 45 minutes' drive to both Mossel Bay and Knysna, and a little less than an hour to Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo, so it's perfectly placed for tour groups and individuals who want a base from which to explore the region. In fact, the Garden Route and Klein Karoo area itself is the hotel's greatest attraction. It's a Mecca for sport and adventures: the city of George is only about 10 minutes' drive from our front door and the airport is about 15 minutes away, and Wilderness is part of the unfenced Garden Route National Park – with some of its most popular walks and trails The village of Wilderness is nestled between the Kaaimans River and the Wilderness National Park.

Wilderness, Cape Town-Garden Route , Hoekwil rd, wilderness 7 passes - Map

We've got a feeling that AfriCamps at Oakhurst is going to be a favourite amongst our visitors. Set up high in the mountains, Oakhurst is one of the few remaining large working farms along the Garden Route and covers a massive 640 hectares – 200 of which are pristine fynbos and indigenous forest. To fully immerse visitors in the beauty of the surroundings, the eight AfriCamps tents overlook rolling green fields and the Outeniqua Mountains. Here the breathtaking Wilderness meets the Garden Route's lesser-known farm lifestyle. Grazing cows and horses create a truly authentic farm experience. At Oakhurst there is no shortage of healthy outdoor fun to keep you and your kids busy. The tents are situated next to one of three farm dams. Try your luck at a spot of fishing or take out one of the canoes. Kilometres of well-maintained single track through the forest is ideal for mountain biking .
