  Lovely room with nice decoration and good quality beds and linen. The heating worked very well - I stayed during the snow blizzards before New Year! Bar food was reasonably priced and good selections offered. Excellent location for the town centre just a few minutes walk away. Staff were excellent. Tesco and Sainsbury's also a few minutes walk away from the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

  I stayed in room 117 which is on the main road near to other hotels who get their deliveries through the night creating sleep disturbance.

  our stay on the 18th feb 2017 was outstanding at hotel 53 will stay here again wasn't far from the centre staff are very friendly room was amazing really enjoyed our stay

  I really cant think of any but if I wanted to be really picky I would say its a shame there is limited parking at hotel but in all fairness there is a pay and display carpark at the top of the road and its only £9 for 24hrs I don't think that is bad at all so don't let the car parking put you off its really not that big of a deal thanks again for a great stay in York :)

  I think the hotel was clean with lovely rooms, The staff were friendly and helpful.

  I think the price was expensive to say we didn't even get breakfast included in the price. I also don't think we should have been charged for parking our car with staying at the hotel and paying what I considered quite a lot of money for one night.

  This hotel is the best hotel ive stayed at and the staff was very helpful and polite,the hotel was only 5 minutes away from town centre. I recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a break 5 star from me merry Christmas too you all at hotel 53 and a happy new year

  Everything was excellent, room was lovely with big bed and breakfast was lovely too. Staff were friendly and welcoming., loved how close to the town centre it was we had a lovely time.

  Room overlooking main road very noisy, woken up by buses, lorries and in particular binmen who came 3 times between 5:30-7 (even with windows shut). Unfortunately had a very poor night's sleep so if we did return it would be in a room at the back of a hotel. Otherwise room score would've got a much better score. No free parking, costs £10 or £11 for 12 hours with no option to extend

  Shower (room 101) was scalding hot and temperature couldn't be changed. No extractor fan in bathroom. Would expect Sky tv.
