The island of Margarita is part of Venezuela. It is situated in the Caribbean Sea, to the north-east of the capital city, Caracas.
Among the most popular beaches there are: Pampatar, whose tranquil waters are ideal for a relaxing time with family or friends; Playa Guacuco, which usually has bigger waves; Playa Parguito, which is much loved by surfers and has some shops and services; Playa El Agua, which is nice and wide and a good place to engage in water sports; Playa Caribe, which is quite pretty and also very popular. La Restinga is a lovely beach in the Laguna de la Restinga National Park, a must-see for visitors to the island. You can also enjoy boat trips in the beautiful mangrove swamps, buy local artifacts (pearl necklaces are a specialty) or just sit back and relax.
