Williamsburg is a city on the Virginia Peninsula, in the United States. Together with the cities of Jamestown and Yorktown it helps to make up one of the most popular tourist destinations in the US, the so-called Historical Triangle of Virginia.
These three towns are connected by a route known as the Colonial Parkway, which runs through a national park remarkable for its natural beauty and its plant and animal life. The focal point of this route, and the place with the most stunning scenery, is Williamsburg.
Williamsburg’s colonial era has left it a rich historical and cultural heritage that is preserved with great dedication by the locals. This nurturing of history makes visitors feel like they are visiting the past, especially in the 18th century style village where locals live, work and cook like in the old days. Close by is College of William and Mary campus, the place where Thomas Jefferson studied over two hundred years ago. There is a lovely garden on campus known as the Sunken Garden, which is ideal for strolling and spending an agreeable afternoon. Two other very popular attractions are the Williamsburg Cellar and the Presidents Park.
