Philadelphia is a city located in the state of Pennsylvania, United States.
It is one of the oldest cities in the country, dating from the colonial period, with many sites of nationally important history. Many of these sites played an important role in the consolidation of the country and in the history of its formation, especially those found in the Independence National Historic Park. Here, the history of the revolution can be followed through a tour of some of the city's buildings and historical monuments.
The most popular attractions are Independence Hall, the place where the US Declaration of Independence was signed, and the Liberty Bell. Other places of interest are the houses of the famous writer Edgar Allan Poe and the legendary Betsy Ross, the first woman to sew the design of the stars on the American flag.
Philadelphia also has a number of interesting museums covering different branches of the arts and sciences.
