Lexington is a city in Lafayette County, in the US state of Kentucky.
It is popularly known as "The Horse Capital", as this is where so many derby winners have been bred. One of the most popular places in the area is the Kentucky Horse Park, a huge stud farm that excels at breeding thoroughbreds.
The city is also home to several theme parks, including Gratz Park, which is surrounded by historical buildings, gaining it a place on the National Register of Historical Sites, and a beautiful fountain.
Another interesting place to go and see is Lexington Cemetery, a jewel of 19th century architecture surrounded by lakes and monuments. You should also make time to go and see the Arboretum Botanical Garden, which has lovely examples of both local and exotic varieties. Horse lovers should go and visit Thoroughbred Park, which has a series of monuments dedicated to horses and their care.
