El Paso is a Texan city on the US-Mexico border. It is separated from the Mexican city of Juárez by the Rio Bravo.
The Franklin mountains run through the city, the highest peak being 2,192 metres high. You can get an excellent panoramic view from the cable car.
You can visit the Zoo, Fort Bliss Museum, the War Eagles Museum and Lizard Square, with its famous sculpture.
Visitors should also make time to see the Tigua Indian Reservation, the Socorro and San Elizario missions, the Museum of History, the Insights Science Museum, the Chamizal National Memorial, Viva El Paso, the International Art Museum and the Western Playland and Wet N.Wild Water World theme parks.
Lovers of sport will be more than happy with the city's offering, which includes Sunland Park Racetrack, some good golf courses, excellent cycle tracks, horse riding, fishing, skiing, trekking and hiking in the region’s cinematic landscapes.
It is well worth the effort to travel 145 miles east of El Paso to see the world’s biggest cave system: the Carlsbad Caverns. A visit to the Mexican city of Juárez, just over the border, is also interesting.
