
Wigan is an English city situated in the in the north-east of the country, in the County of Greater Manchester.
The city is popularly known for having been the scene of a George Orwell novel, the title of the book was: The Road to Wigan Pier. It is a story about his experiences during a journey through the area, where he narrated the living conditions of the working class.
