Wigan is an English city situated in the in the north-east of the country, in the County of Greater Manchester.
The city is popularly known for having been the scene of a George Orwell novel, the title of the book was: The Road to Wigan Pier. It is a story about his experiences during a journey through the area, where he narrated the living conditions of the working class.
Among the main attractions of the city, we can point out the Wigan Heritage Centre, a centre that dates back to the 19th century and which offers permanent exhibitions relating to history and city customs. You could also visit the large Wigan Pier complex: the Museum of Memories, where you can live through a century of history in a single day, from the Victorian era up to the present day, at the same time live shows are performed by the Wigan Pier theatre company.
