
Slough is an English town located in the county of Berkshire.
This large town has many factories, which have made Slough an economically successful place. One of the town's most notable people was the astronomer William Herschel, who made many important discoveries in astronomy. He is buried at St Laurence's Church in Upton.
One of the most important events in the town's history was the arrival of the railway in 1840, putting Slough in a highly strategic position and greatly improving its economy.
The town has a range of things to offer in terms of art and culture, such as works by the artist Philip Bergner, the Slough Museum, which gives detailed information about the town and has a large number of exhibitions, and the Slough Philharmonic Society, an important amateur orchestra.
