Quietly situated, this appealing country hotel lies a 15-minute drive from Darlington Station. Darlington itself is a 20-minute drive away. The centre as well as countless shops and links to the public transport network are just a 5-minute drive away. A pleasant beach is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Newcastle Airport is roughly 20 km from the hotel, whilst Durham Tees Valley Airport is approximately 64 km away.Built in 1744, this renovated country house hotel comprises a total of 100 rooms spread over 4 floors. Guests are invited into the lobby with its 24-hour reception desk, a currency exchange counter, lift access and hotel safe. Further facilities include a TV lounge, a hairdressing salon as well as a public Internet terminal (for which an additional fee payable locally applies). Culinary options include a snug bar and a restaurant with highchairs for children available. Business guests may like to make use of the conference facilities. We recommend visiting the Botanical Gardens and the Dorman Museum, Captain Cook's Birthplace, the Josephine and John Bowes Museum, the Georgian theatre, Baliol Tower – which is the best preserved part of an 11th century castle on the banks of the Tees – the Town Hall with its Victorian Concert Hall, which has capacity for 1,190 people, the elegant train station and much more. Middlesborough has a great nightlife, with good pubs, nightclubs, bingo halls, theatres and many other places to have a good night out. Apart from the Metro Centre, there are plenty of other good shopping centres in and around town.
