Hotels in Inverness and the Highlands

Fort William is the biggest town in Scotland’s Highlands.

Originally established in the still-extant village of Inverlochy, the town is on the southern end of the Great Glen, on the shores of Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil. It is close to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain on Great Isles, and Glen Nevis.

Fort William is the capital of the district of Lochaber. It has many tourist attractions, lots of accommodation and good shopping areas. However, its main attraction is the stunning natural environment around the town. It is a place that is popular with rock climbers, walkers, wildlife lovers and people who like to take boat trips.

One of the most popular things to do in the town is take a trip on the Jacobite, a steam train that connects Fort William and Mallaig in the summer. The views from the train are truly incredible.

Also worth a visit are the West Highland Museum and "Treasures of the Earth", a museum of precious stones, crystal, silver and gold. It also has a gift shop specialising in such objects.

Fort William is a city for the senses, come and experience it for yourself!
