Fujairah is one of the seven Arab Emirates. It is on the east coast of the Gulf of Oman, which with the Straits of Ormuz makes up one of the busiest and most strategically important waterways in the world.
Its landscape, less dramatic than that of the other Arab Emirates, has beaches of fine white sand, rocky mountains, old fortresses and date plantations.
The most popular sports here are diving and snorkelling, to name just two of its water sports. Sailing south you will see wild dolphins in the coastal waters off Muscat.
