Towards the north-east of Thailand we find the province of Nakhon Ratchasima.
It is situated in the western part of the Khorat plateau, which is crossed by the Chao Phraya river, forming a valley close to which the Phetchabun and Dong Phaya Yen mountains arise. Two large national parks are present in the province, Thab Lan in the south and Khao Yai towards the west. The capital city of the state, also called Nakhon Ratchasima, possess sites of great interest for the tourist, such as the Korat Royal Thai Air Force base used during the Vietnam War, the magnificent Korat Zoo and the Thao Suranaree monument to Lady Mo.
Among the activities to enjoy in Nakhon Ratchasima is the Phimai boat race that takes place each year. Visit the enormous shopping centre, which is thematically decorated with a small and attractive waterfall, go for a walk around the shops, stroll through the pleasant parks and green spaces or dive into the Olympic swimming pool found at one of the recreational zones in the area.
