Information about Uppsala
Uppsala is a city to the north of Stockholm, in Sweden. It is one of the biggest cities in the country and the administrative centre of the province of Uppsala. The city is next to the Fyrisan River, which has been an important factor in the area’s economic development. It is still an important aspect of local life today, and there are many benches to sit on and open air bars along the river bank. One of the most interesting places to visit in the area is the former home of famous Swedish scientist and naturalist Carl Von Linné, which has been turned into a museum in his memory. There is a strong musical tradition in Uppsala, where you will be able to listen to all kinds of music, including recitals given by the city’s 200 choirs. Another of the most popular attractions is the Uppsala Cathedral. This imposing Gothic structure is the biggest cathedral in northern Europe, with towers that are 118 metres high. Uppsala is a place that manages to retain the charm of a small village, while providing all of the comforts and amenities of a large city.
