Gothenburg is a Swedish city located in the province of Västra Götaland. It is an important port due to its location on the west coast of Sweden on the River Göta älv and the Kattegat Strait.
The city is Sweden's second largest and it has always been characterised by its cosmopolitan style and great local creativity.
Gothenburg has many attractions, among them its famous parks. These include the Slottsskogen, an attractive place where you can also visit the Museum of Natural History and an interesting zoo. Another one is Göteborgs Botaniska Trädgård, one of Europe's largest and most important Botanic Gardens. Also well worth seeing is the Göteborgs Trädgårdsförening, a lovely park next to the Gothenburg canal with some great views.
Gothenburg offers many opportunities for recreational activities, such as the Gothenburg Museum, the Liseberg theme park, a cruise of the canal and the harbour and the Design Museum.
