Sierra Nevada is a mountain massif, 80 kilometres long, located in Andalusia, Spain; its highest point is at 3,482 metres, and is called Mulhacén.
Next to the internationally famous ski runs is the town of Pradollano, at 2,100 metres above sea level. It has all the infrastructure needed for a large number of tourists, with hotels, bed and breakfasts, apartments, restaurants, bars and a good nightlife. Pradollano is the perfect base for those who love skiing, snowboarding, trekking, climbing, sledging, hiking with snowshoes, ice skating or horse riding. The ski season lasts from the end of November to the middle of May.
There are a number of interesting towns to visit in the Sierra Nevada, for example: Güejar Sierra, Nigüelas, Capileira and Bubión. There are also many lakes, which make the landscape even more beautiful.
If you are tired of mountain activities, you can visit nearby Granada, which is one of Spain's most picturesque cities. Visit the Alhambra and see the Moorish architecture of this city.
Or, if you prefer, in just an hour, you can be sitting on the beach gazing at the Mediterranean.
