Seville is the capital of Andalucía. It lies in south-central Spain. It is a major city with plenty to see and do.

The river is navigable and you can take pleasant boat rides along it that provide unbeatable views of the city. Seville Cathedral is one of the most impressive in Spain. Semana Santa in Seville
by AlexAs far as religious celebrations go, the Semana Santa Easter festivities in Seville really take the biscuit. On the run up to Easter Sunday, daily processesions through the streets are held as thousands of Nazarenos flock to the city in an elaborate display of penance and worship. Nazarenos are cloaked members of Catholic religious brotherhoods who descend on Seville to march through the streets carrying religious statues. And for those not familiar with the processions, their appearance has been compared to that of the Klu Klux Klan, but thankfully, the meaning of the event bears no resemblance. However, it is a haunting sight which literally takes over the city (good luck finding hotel accommodation), making this one of the most unique places to be over the Easter period

Seeing Seville
by AlexA trip to Seville is seeing a totally different side to Spain, for those most used to taking city breaks to Barcelona or Madrid. This sultry Spanish city likes at the foot of Spain and one of the last commercial stop off points before hitting Africa. As such, evidence of centuries old Moorish and Arabic rule is more apparent than in many other cities in Spain. Just check out the Moorish Moorish castle of Alcazar to see what I mean. Also worth seeing here are the once swanky neighbourhood of Santa Cruz and the rougher but traditional Macarena neighbourhood which is home to many of the city’s Baroque chuches. Best of all, are the bohemian bars in the Alameda de Hércules district, which come alive every night, and sizzle with Sevillian charm
