Murcia is the capital city of the Region of Murcia, in the southeast of Spain. It is set on the River Segura and it is one of the largest municipal areas in Spain.
Of its many sites of interest, one building in particular stands out: the Casino, the city's symbol. The building dates from the 19th century and it combines many different styles: classical, modern and even Arabic. The Cathedral is another building of great interest. It dates back to 1467, and it too contains a mixture of styles: Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. We also recommend a visit to the 18th century Bishop's Palace. For a more natural experience, see the La Luz Visitors' Centre, in the El Valle National Park. This is a wonderful area, ideal for enjoying the outdoors, and the visitors' centre offers a number of different exhibitions, displays and activities.
