Malaga is a city in Spain’s southern region of Andalusia, which ends at the Straits of Gibraltar.
The city is part of the world-famous Costa del Sol. Two important rivers go through the Malaga region, the Guadalmedina and the Guadalhorce. It is an area that is blessed with excellent beaches, a beautiful hilly landscape, a rich and varies cultural and historical heritage and a first rate tourism infrastructure.
From the castle on Mount Gibralfaro you get a spectacular view of Malaga Bay. At the foot of Gibralfaro is the Alcazaba, a palace and fortress that was built by the Islamic Nazarí. You can also visit the roman theatre, the Cathedral of the Incarnation, the Episcopal Palace and the old Moorish Alameda quarter, which is where you will find the famous Antigua Casa del Guardia tavern, where delicious regional wines are always available to sample.
Marqués de Larios Street goes from the Plaza Mayor, also known as Plaza de la Constitución, to Malaga’s port, passing by many points of interest. Go for a stroll in the botanical gardens next to the port, which has plants and trees from all over the world. You should also visit the Picasso Museum, the painter’s family home, the Centre of Contemporary Art, the Museum and Fine Arts and many other interesting attractions.
You will also be able to play all kinds of sports in the city’s popular beaches, such as La Malagueta, Pedregalejo and San Andrés, and spend a relaxing time at country retreats like Guadalmar and Campo de Golf.
