But to see the very best of this Balearic island, then hop into a hire car and head down to Es Trenc. This beach is about as close as you can get to a Caribbean beach holiday without leaving the Med. With eye-blinding white sands and turquoise seas and you’ll forget that Magaluf even exists�

• Experiencing Little Britain & Germany in Mallorca

  Mallorca is often slated for being either too British or overly German by the number of expats setting up communities and resorts here. But that’s one of the things I love about this tiny Spanish island. In my opinion, experiencing Mallorca isn’t just sticking to the Spanish side of the island but seeing everything else that’s on offer and giving it a try. Head to Arenal and C’an Pastilla and try some of the best German food and beer this side of the Mediterranean. If it’s quality English food you prefer, then avoid Magaluf and join the glitterati in the restaurants in Puerto Portals. The views here aren’t bad either and it's where celebs and the filthy rich moor their super yachts. And if all that tapas and paella is really getting tiresome, then explore Palma’s international restaurants. There’s everything from amazing Japanese restaurants, to cool curry houses. Yes, I'm one of first to admitt that some of the best things about Mallorca aren't actually Spanish�
