The district of Arad is in Transylvania, in western Romania. It is a region of great geographic diversity. The rivers Mures, in the south, and Crisul Alb, in the north, run through the area, while the Zarand Mountains lie to the east and the Western Romanian Plain is in the west.
The capital of the district bears the same name, Arad. This is a city of many tourist attractions, such as the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, which was built in 1862 and is notable for its Baroque style. The Catholic Cathedral, meanwhile, is in the Renaissance style and has a stunning vault with impressive columns. The old town hall has a lovely tower that is 54 metres tall. Art and culture are well nourished in the Palace of Culture, a pretty building in an eclectic style that shows traces of Art Noveau.
Besides being a museum, it is also home to the State Philharmonic Orchestra. Arad is the place you are looking for to enjoy a dream holiday.
