Ixtapa is a town on the west coast of Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean, 240 kilometres from Acapulco.
This area, called the Costa Grande, has steep slopes, with sea cliffs alternating with lovely bays and pleasant beaches surrounded by tropical vegetation.
Ixtapa has a number of shopping areas, with both modern and colonial architecture, separated by green spaces. There are top quality hotels, large complexes, luxury resorts and a very picturesque port, where you will find a marina on the beautiful turquoise waters here. The best-known popular beaches are El Palmar, Playa Quieta, with the Island of Ixtapa opposite, and Playa Linda; it is here that you can find the jetty with boats taking visitors to the Island of Ixtapa. This island has truly fantastic beaches like Cuachalalate, very popular and with many restaurants where you can try good seafood. It is also possible to do water sports like water skiing, sailing and others. Playa Varadero is quieter and Playa Coral, on the south of the island, even more so. There are many coral reefs which are great for diving and snorkelling. Other beaches are: Cuatas, Don Juan, Don Rodrigo and Riscalillo.
