Huatulco is a municipality in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, which is famous for its nine bays - visited by tourists from all over the world.
It is located in the foothills of the South Sierra Madre, with hillsides covered in green vegetation and valleys traversed by the Rivers Coyula, San Agustín and Copalita. The beaches here are of white sand and the warm waters are quite clear with an emerald green tinge. Of its nine bays, three have good infrastructure: the Bay of Santa Cruz, with the town and its port; the Bay of Tangolunda, which has the most luxury hotels; and the Bay of Chahué, with good hotels and restaurants.
Huatulco is great for diving to see the coral reefs, inhabited by colourful fish. You can also go waterskiing, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling, yachting, golfing, horse riding and trekking as well as whale, dolphin and bird watching.
The main square of the town has the Church of Santa Maria de la Concepción and the old market. Visit the bullring and take a tour of a coffee plantation. Huatulco is a great destination for a fantastic holiday.
