Chiapas oozes archaeological interest. One of the most fascinating sites is “Palenque”, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was occupied by the powerful Maya people for centuries. Here you can visit the Temple of Inscriptions, the Temple of the Red Queen, the Temple of the Cross and the Temple of the Sun, among many others things.
