Treviso is the capital of Treviso province, in the Italian region of Veneto. You can visit this medieval city on foot to discover all the charming corners of its narrow streets and admire the beauty of the picturesque canals that run through the city, making it similar to Venice, which is only 30 kilometres away.
Visit the Duomo, the main church, built in a Neoclassical style, and the 11th-century Baptistery, which contains frescoes with a Byzantine influence.
Other monuments of interest are the Church of San Nicolò, with Gothic elements and the churches of San Francesco, Santa Lucia and San Vito, which are connected, located behind the Piazza dei Signori square, a major meeting point and landmark in the city.
The former Convent of Santa Caterina houses a museum where you can admire many works by the painter Tommaso da Modena. The L. Bailo City Museum holds treasures from archaeological remains to modern art.
The historical centre is surrounded by a medieval wall with two monumental stone gateways. A number of rivers and channels run through it, making it very scenic. It is also a good place to go shopping and, as well as stores, it has many good restaurants and hotels. Your holiday in Treviso is meant to be unforgettable.
