San Remo is a city in northwest Italy. It is in the region of Liguria, on the Mediterranean coast. It hosts the world-famous San Remo Festival of Music.
It has the charming fishing port of Porto Vecchio and there is also another port that runs close to Corso dell’Imperatrice, known as Porto Sole, for the bigger ships that sail through the Gulf of Genoa.
There are nice parks and gardens around the city, one of the best of which is Parque Marsaglia. San Remo is often considered the capital of floriculture.
The oldest part of San Remo, La Pigna, is a medieval quarter in the upper town. We recommend visiting the Cathedral of San Siro, the Baptistery of San Giovanni and the Tower of Ciapella, which is in Piazza dei Heroi. Visit Palazzo Borea d’Olmo and the Russian Orthodox Church. Among the aristocratic villas worth seeing are Villa Noceda, Villa Anger, Villa Zirio and Villa Nobel.
Among the city’s more notable buildings are the Casino, the Town Hall and some elegant hotels.
