Milan is the biggest city in Lombardy, Italy’s most developed region. It is a major financial centre, a university city and a fashion Mecca.
Its most iconic building is the Duomo di Milan. The Duomo was built in the Gothic style, with a Neo-Gothic facade. We recommend an afternoon’s shopping in the Vittorio Emmanuele Galleries, which have glass domes and stylish coffee shops and boutiques. In the medieval Piazza Della Scala you will find the Palace of Reason, Logia dei Osii, the Palace of the Palatine Schools and the House of the Panigarola. Go and see the biggest opera house in the world, the prestigious La Scala.
See Leonardo’s “Last Supper” in the old convent beside the Church of Santa María delle Grazzie, the Pinacoteca di Brera and the Castello, Poldi-Pezzoli and other museums.
Remember to make time for a visit to Castello Sforzesco and Basilica San Ambrosio.
Milan’s nightlife gravitates around the Brera gallery and the neighbourhoods of Navigli and Ticinese, which have many pubs, bars, restaurants, and theatres... There is good and varied accommodation all over the city. On Via Manzoni you can shop at some very fashionable stores. Come and visit Milan.

Getting a taste of Milan
by AlexWhile Milan is the undisputed fashion and football capital of Italy, what’s more to see and do here? For starters, you can’t leave the city without visiting the Il Duomo, Milan’s most iconic sight. It’s definitely worth making the climb up the stairs to the roof top. The views across the city are amazing. The city also has its fair share of art galleries and other historic monuments, but to get a real sense of the place, then head for the restaurants. My favourite is a little known, out of the way place that just serves risotto called DAbele on Via Temperanza 5, Loreto. They only have about three risottos on the menu and the ingredients depend upon what veg is in season. Hardly any tourists go here, as is by far one of the best non-touristy Milanese experiences

Beckham, Fashion & Football
by AlexI could see why David Beckham is thinking of making the move to AC Milan from his USA LA Galaxy football team. The city is packed full of fashion while the football ground, the San Siro Stadium has one of the best atmospheres on match-day in Italy too. So if you’re contemplating a trip to Milan and are a big Beckham fan, head to the Corso and the San Siro for the best chance of doing some Beckham spotting
