Bologna is an Italian city that is known internationally as the home to the world's oldest university, for its food and drink and for its wonderful historical centre. Bologna railway station was one of the first to be built in Europe, and the present building is an important hub for communications all over Italy.
The city is home to the Motorshow, the world's largest automobile exhibition. The traditional dish served here is pasta with a Bolognese sauce, accompanied by a glass of Sangiovese wine. The Two Towers is Bologna's most important monument, and this is in the Piazza di Porta Ravegnana square. This square, together with the Piazza Maggiore and Neptuno squares, are the most popular with tourists. In this city you can visit various palaces, monuments, churches, the cathedral, towers, catacombs, fountains: all major buildings from the Medieval and Renaissance periods, which will enrich your cultural level and lift your spirit. There are too many to list, but all are worth visiting.
