The historic and island was home to the Fitzgerald family, Earls of Kildare & Ormonde for some 800 years. The authentic Castle's oldest portions date from mid-16th Century. Guests can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the island setting where wonderful nature and native island deer are part of the experience. The establishment offers luxury accommodation.Castle Garden Lodges – Our lodges are 2 storey houses located 2 minutes drive from the main Castle. Each has 3 double bedrooms upstairs & an open plan kitchen/sitting room area downstairs. Each lodge has been designed to optimise space and light. This, combined with porcelain tiling and under floor heating throughout the ground floor, ensures a seamless flow through the living areas. Full height doors and glazed wall flanking the timber staircase that leads on to a wall of light, all contribute to a sense of drama downstairs. Upstairs too, a floating ceiling with integrated lighting and hand built, high gloss fittings lend a distinctive feel to these contemporary homes. Each house has a fully equipped kitchen, breakfast bar & full 6 persons table dining area.
