Hotels in Dublin

The city of Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland; it is at the mouth of the river Liffey, on the country’s east coast. It is full of life, culture and bustling shopping streets; the most important of these is Henry Street.

O’Connell Street is the main street; it is peppered with city bus stops. On O’Connell Street you will see a very picturesque building, the General Post Office, and if you look east down the river Liffey from the bridge that bears the street’s name, you can see the Customs House, whose image is a classic symbol of the city. It is an impressive building, which originally served as the country’s customs building, and today is used as the headquarters for one of the government ministries.

Remember to get a panoramic view of the city from the Smithfield Chimney, an old chimney that was once part a famous distillery, one of the many you will find, as well as internationally known industrial plants.

The St. Patrick’s Day festival, patron saint of Ireland, is widely celebrated here, but you can enjoy and celebrate your decision to travel to Dublin at any time of year!

  • Weekend markets, Dublin

      by   Alex

One of my favourite markets is taking Saturday morning to wander around the stalls around Meeting House Square Market, at the heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar. There are loads of local products on offer including homemade food including chocolate, veg, jams and organic veggies. Come on Sunday though for a total change of scene. It transforms a furniture bazaar and craft market for local Irish designers

  • Dublin

      by   Alex

Stag dos and hen parties aside, the majority of visitors to Dublin come to the city for the Guinness. And just lots to be had, not just at the Guinness Stroehouse, which is dedicated to all things Guinness but in most of the bars around the city. But don’t just limit your fun to here. The area to the south of Dublin is lots of fun, with the Temple bar area most popular for nightlife. For shops, head to either the Gafton Centre, the shops on Grafton Street, and Saint Stephen’s Green
