António Ferro, a Portuguese poet had the vision of distinctive, rare and typically Portuguese hotels that were peaceful, gracious, elegant places. Opened in 1942, the Santa Luzia Pousada was the first of the Pousadas de Portugal and is a fine example of typical Alentejo architecture. Today, it offers guests not only all possible comfort but also the best Alentejo cuisine, especially the renowned bacalhau dourado (golden codfish), or its famous dish of pork trotters in a coriander marinade. A total of 25 rooms are on offer within the air-conditioned hotel of which 24 are twin rooms and 1 is a double room. Amongst the facilities count a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, a currency exchange desk, a bar, a TV room, a restaurant, public Internet access room service and car parking.
Room description
The rooms are numbered and all located on the 1st floor, with distinctive views out over the pool, garden, city or nearby road. Three of the twin rooms have a balcony and all rooms come with air conditioning, cable TV, a minibar, a desk, a direct dial telephone, and an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer as standard.
Sport activities description
In the garden complex is a swimming pool around, a poolside snack bar and sun loungers and parasols that have been laid out ready for use. It is possible to go horse riding.
Meal service description
All meals are available in a buffet form; lunch and the evening meal may alternatively be taken à la carte or chosen from a menu. Specific dietary requirements may be catered to. It is possible to book a half-board, full-board or bed and breakfast only stay.
