How to get there
From Lisbon: leave Lisbon via the Vasco da Gama Bridge and follow the A12 and then the A2 Sul. If leaving via the 25th of April Bridge, always follow the A2 Sul. Take the Marateca exit, and continue on the A6 motorway. Follow the A6 (Évora, Espanha). Follow the A6 as far as Estremoz, then leave the motorway and follow directions to Portalegre via the IP2. Monforte is about 30 km after leaving the freeway.
