The lobby was quite nice, and the lady on reception was very friendly and helpful.

The rooms we were given at first had windows that were surrounded by walls on each side which meant the room was in the dark all day, and the lighting in the room wasn't very good to make up for the lack of daylight. The room had no fresh air and didn't smell very nice. We had to put up with this for 2 days until we could be changed to a room with proper windows. The resturant didn't seem to be open the whole time we were there, and breakfast was catered to the Turkish people and didn't have anything that we wanted to eat apart from cereal. Orange juice cost an extra 5 Lira. Most of the workers there didn't speak much english and so checking into our rooms was very hard. There was a blackout on the first day which lasted about 45 minutes. Luckily we were sitting in the lobby at the time and not in the lift or on the stairs. During that time none of the workers even told us what was happening until we asked them how much longer it would last. They didn't even give us a candle until we asked for one after sitting in the pitch black for 10minutes.

There are lots of decent shops near the hotel. Many designer shops and clothes shops which are really good value for money compared to the Grand Bazaar. There is a small bazaar nearby and some restuarants and cafes. There is a tram stop nearby which takes u straight to the areas with all the tourist attractions within a few minutes.
