The hotel is a magnificent example of Gothic Architecture and steeped in history. The Earl of Mar Estate holds many fascinating stories, with reference to Mary Queens of Scots and Robert the Bruce. Built in 1828 the present Mar Hall was constructed 100 years after the famous Earl's death. The hotel has undergone a massive restoration and is undoubtedly one of Scotland's premier hotels. In addition to fine surroundings the hotels offers the first Aveda concept Spa in the United Kingdom.
Room description
Calming blues, rich burgundies and dramatic blacks ar just a few of the colour schemes that can be experienced. Rooms are located in the main house and also in the connecting spa wing and are equip with all the standard ammenites.
Sport activities description
Due to open late 2009 the new 18 hole golf course designed by Dave Thomas Jr. Aveda Concept Spa, the only one of its kind in the UK featuring 11 treatment rooms offering a wide range of health and beauty treatments. The fitness centre has a 20 metre pool, fully equipped fitness studio, saunas, steam rooms, full changing facilities and relaxation areas.

How to get there
From The South: Take the M6 then on to M74 then on to M73/M80 (Stirling) then first slip road left for M8 Glasgow City Centre, then continue on M8 (Westbound/Glasgow Airport). From M8 (Westbound) exit at Erskine Bridge, following road signed Bishopton/Erskine. Take a left at first roundabout signed Bishopton, continue past HP Compaq on right, going straight through mini roundabout, past Bishopton parish church on the right (Drumcross Road on your left). For travellers using Sat. Nav. systems please use the postal code PA7 5PP Take next immediate right at Gatehouse and follow road straight to reach the hotel. From M8 (Eastbound) exit at Erskine Bridge, following signs for Bishopton/Erskine. The same directions from this point apply.
