Hotel description Horizontes Guama
Once a Castro bass-fishing refuge (Bohío 33 was El Commandante's), this odd hideaway spread over 12 little islands in the Laguna del Tesoro has 44 'bohíos' (huts) with good screens and adequate comforts - though the mosquitoes can be fierce. A 15-minute boat ride to headquarters, which is on stilts, is followed by a canoe ride to the guest cabins. Guests must canoe in to the main lodge for meals in the restaurant. This is an interesting place, but unless guests long to try the bass fishing, steer clear. The air-conditioned property offers a lobby with a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, a games room, TV lounge, bar and a car park.
Room description
The wooden huts covered with palm leaves feel like ship cabins, but are air-conditioned and come with new bathrooms with a shower, small lounges and a private terrace. Other in-room amenities include a direct dial telephone, satellite TV, a minibar and a double bed.
Sport activities description
There are evening events which recreate traditional rituals. Guests can also rent boats, go horse riding, diving, bird watching or visit a nearby crocodile farm. The complex has a swimming pool with sun loungers laid out for use.
