This city hotel is situated at the end of a private drive and so enjoys a quiet and peaceful location, with a Victorian garden and water fountain. It opened in 1862, and comprises 107 bedrooms in total. The building was renovated in 2008. This top-flight full-service hotel offers drinks and snacks in the relaxed atmosphere of the Grand Lounge Bar. One of the most striking features of this Grade II listed building is the elegant ballroom which can accommodate up to 400 persons for a banquet, and which also offers a further 14 meeting rooms. The ballroom in its history has played host to royalty including Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George VI and the then Princess Elizabeth. Otherwise, the hotel has a lobby, 24-hour reception and check-out service, a hotel safe, currency exchange facility, cloakroom, lift access, kiosk, mini-supermarket, hairdressers' salon, a nightclub, casino and games room. Room description
The en suite bedrooms, including 33 family rooms, 28 executive rooms and the sumptuous 1862 suite, all feature a direct dial telephone, high-speed Internet access, tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar (in executive bedrooms) and an in-room safe. An en suite bathroom, hairdryer, satellite television, pay-per-view movies, a radio, ironing set, double beds and central heating are also provided.
Sport activities description
The Esperanto Health Suite is open 24 hours, and offers a fully equipped multi-gym, a dance studio, health and beauty treatments and saunas. These facilities are free for resident guests (with the exception of beauty treatments). Ponds Forge Leisure Centre and Sheffield Ski Village are also located nearby. Water aerobics, surfing, tennis, table tennis, squash, aerobics, archery, horse riding, mountain biking, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, minigolf, golf and badminton are all available for a fee. An entertainment and activity programme for younger guests also features.

How to get there
By Car: Exit J33 M1. Follow the A57 towards Sheffield City Centre. At the first roundabout (Park Square Roundabout), take the 5th exit towards A61/A57 Glossop. Stay in the outside lane to enable turning right on to Furnival Road at the traffic lights. Take an immediate left onto Victoria Station Road and go under the welcome archway.
