Housed in a building that dates back to 1600 that underwent loving restorative work in 2008, this hotel comprises two 3-storey buildings offering a total of 128 rooms of which 25 are suites. The hotel is the ideal retreat for those wishing to escape the city stresses. Guests are able to gain access to the hotel gardens and facilities include a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, a safe, a cloakroom and a lift as well as a café, a bar, a games room and 3 restaurants. It is possible to pay a visit to the in-house beauty parlour and hairdressing salon and business guests are offered multi-functional conference facilities (capacity of 10 - 250 persons). Fees apply for the bicycle hire service, room and laundry services, use of the Internet and WLAN. There is a kids' club (for an additional fee) and a playground for younger guests. Those arriving by car may take advantage of the hotel car park.

Each of the guest rooms offers a self contained world of comfort and charm, elegantly furnished and beautifully decorated. All rooms have a bath, shower, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, Sky television, tea and coffee making facilities and a trouser press.

Sport activities description

Leisure options include a lagoon-style indoor pool with a separate children's area, a Jacuzzi, a sauna and steam baths. Various exercise classes and yoga courses are on offer on a daily basis. There are squash courts to make use of and, outside, tennis courts. It is possible to try out archery or to go quad biking. The hotel's private yacht takes guests on daily trips on Loch Lomond.

Meal service description

Guests have a choice of four restaurants: the unequalled Cameron Grill, the divine Boathouse or the inviting Claret Jug, the best 19th hole in Scotland. A stunning restaurant, the Cameron Grill has taken hotel dining to another level. The open plan kitchen also demonstrates the dedication to making the entire experience an unforgettable one from start to finish. In complete contrast is the light and airy setting of The Boathouse. The Boathouse's décor is a nod to New England style, with stunning views out over the marina and the loch itself. The Claret Jug offers a more informal and relaxed environment, perfect for home-made burgers and steak pies to fill you up after a bracing round of golf, or a deliciously fresh salad to give you that nourishing boast after a wallow in the spa. For a more formal dining experience, Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond is a must. The second restaurant for the Michelin star chef opened in December 2008. The world-renowned chef has a long association with Cameron House, having worked as a Chef de Partie there when the hotel opened in 1991. The menu consists of seasonal dishes created in traditional and modern French style of cooking, complimented with an expertly selected wine list, impeccably served.

This luxury hotel is situated close to Loch Lomond and affords wonderful panoramic views out over the lake and surrounding hillscape as well as the Lomond National Park. The hotel affords a convenient location around 20 minutes drive from central Glasgow. The nearest town, Balloch, lies approximately 2 km away and features a railway station as well as a selection of shopping and entertainment venues. Glasgow airport is 35 km away.

How to get there

From the south (M 74 / M 6), shortly before Glasgow, follow the signs for the M 73, which leads to the M 8 - Loch Lomond, Greenock. Leave the M 8 at junction 30 for Erskine Bridge (toll payable). Pass over the bridge and join the A 82 following signs for Crianlarich. Stay on the A 82 for approximately 25 km and pass over a series of three roundabouts. At the third roundabout indicating Balloch to the right and Luss (Loch Lomond West), pass straight on towards Luss. The hotel is around 1.5 km along here on the right-hand side. From Glasgow airport, take the A 8 (westbound) heading for Greenock. Leave the M 8 at junction 30 for the Erskine Bridge (toll payable). Pass over Erskine Bridge and continue journey along the route explained above.
