Room description
All rooms in the hotel offer comfortable beds, en suite bathrooms with shower/bathtub and hairdryer, colour television, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. Internet access and central heating also come in all rooms as standard. Recent upgrading has seen the refurbishment of 30 bedrooms in the hotel where the feel is modern and contemporary. Ground floor rooms and rooms with walk-in showers are available on request.
Sport activities description
Extensive leisure facilities in the Barracuda Club include a 46-foot heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, hot spa bath and an air conditioned gymnasium which hotel residents may use for free during their stay. The Beauty Salon offers a range of treatments and guests are advised to book treatments in advance by telephoning 01387 259888. Regular entertainment is a feature at the hotel, with either a Dinner Dance or Cabaret Night on every Saturday throughout the year. From May to October an inclusive ceilidh takes place on Sunday nights. The hotel also offers the services of a dedicated golf coordinator who can arrange golf on all local courses subject to availability. There is a golf club just over 9 miles away. Water sports lovers may enjoy waterskiing, diving, windsurfing, motor boating, banana boating, sailing, catamaran boating and canoeing. Other sports facilities available include squash, tennis, table tennis, pool/snooker, bowling and biking. Horse riding is also an option.

The hotel and leisure club is ideally situated in the centre of Dumfries opposite the Regional Council Offices, adjacent to the new DG1 leisure complex and only 50 yards from the town centre shops, Odeon Cinema and Theatre Royal (Scotland's oldest working theatre). The accommodation is close to Robert Burns House and Visitor Centre, forest walking trails and mountain biking facilities. The train and bus stations are about 3 and 5 minutes away respectively. Guests can reach Southerness Beach in some 20 minutes by car.

Travelling from the north: please take the A701 to Dumfries from the M74 at Beattock. Follow signs for town centre. Turn left at Dumfries Academy. Follow signs for the A75 Carlisle. The hotel is on right-hand side opposite the Regional Council Offices. Travelling from the south/east: please take the M6 past Carlisle and the A75 to Dumfries. Follow signs for the town centre. Continue to the traffic lights (St. Marys Church). The hotel is on the left after the traffic lights.
