Built in 1935, the air-conditioned design hotel reopened after renovation in December 2007. The building dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and the traditional architecture of Alentejo has been preserved. The interior design of the public areas features a combination of old pieces from the town's factory. The hotel offers 13 rooms in total and guests are welcomed in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services, a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities and lift access. Further facilities include a newspaper stand, hairdressing salon, games room, TV lounge and a café, bar, pub, disco and restaurant. Room description
All of the 13 guest rooms are individually designed and have elegant and contemporary furniture. They are equipped with electronic locks, luxury double or king-size beds with comfortable duvets, carpeted floors, the finest Portuguese cotton bed linen, and freshly laundered towels. The bathrooms are equipped with a bathtub and a walk-in power shower. Robes and slippers are also provided for use during guests' stays. Other in-room amenities include a hairdryer, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, Internet access, a safe, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, a washing machine and individually regulated air conditioning and heating. Guests may also relax on their private balcony or terrace, which features in all rooms as standard.
Sport activities description
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools with a children's swimming area and a poolside snack bar (fees apply to all) and a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols laid out ready for use. A number of water sports, including waterskiing, windsurfing, motor boating and sailing, are available for additional fees. Other sport and leisure options available to guests include badminton (fees apply), tennis, table tennis, pool/snooker, darts, handball, volleyball, bocce and archery. Guests may also go canoeing, horse riding (fees apply) or biking, or choose from a range of spa treatments. Ammaia Golf Club is approximately 7 km from the themed hotel. This charming historical hotel is set in a serene environment, and is the ideal place to discover the mediaeval history of the town of Marvão (5 km away), to walk through the Natural Park of the Serra de S. Mamede (5 km away), discover the history of the XVII century mansion and the tapestry museum in Portalegre (25 km away), pass through Castelo de Vide's gothic doors and the Jewish Quarter (15 km away), pay a visit to the Roman city of Ammaia or visit the village's market on Saturdays. Guests will find restaurant, bars, shops and links to the public transport network (taxi and bus) in the centre of Santo António das Areias, which is just a 5-minute walk from the eco hotel. Beirã train station is approximately 8 km from the golf hotel and Lisbon Portela Airport is around 225 km away.

How to get there
From the south of Portugal, follow IP1 towards the north. Turn off at junction 7 onto the A6/IP7 towards Estremoz, then IP2/E802 towards Portalegre. Continue past Portalegre to the right turn for Marvão/Spain, follow signs for Marvão and, after the roundabout at Portagem, take the first right and follow the road to Santo Antonio das Areias. From the north, follow the IP1 towards Lisbon, turn off at junction 7 onto the A6/IP7 towards Estremoz and then take the IP2/E802 towards Portalegre.
