Hotel description Arolithos Traditional Cretan Village
Renovated in 2001, this hotel features 34 rooms spread between 19 cottages. The fully air-conditioned hotel offers access to various facilities including a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, a lounge area, antique and traditional artefacts as well as a safe. The hotel also has its own café, a small supermarket (which sells, among other things, Cretan wine, ouzo, honey and olive oil), various shops, which offer hand-made Cretan souvenirs and jewellers, a bar, a museum and two originally equipped Cretan houses, a TV room and a restaurant with a breakfast room as well as a tavern (where guests will find regular Cretan evenings, christenings and weddings). There is also a car park for guests arriving by car.
Room description
The traditional, tastefully furnished and spacious rooms come with en suite bathroom facilities, a direct dial telephone, air conditioning (individually regulated), heating, a fridge and a balcony. In addition, it is possible to request a foldout bed. Some rooms feature an open fireplace (wood included).

The visitor who is interested in folklore and would like to see in practice the artistic activity which has been kept unchanged today in embroidery, weaving, ceramics, hagiography and pottery should not miss the unique traditional village of Arolithos, which has ragged grandeur of wild mountains as a background. This, along with the wild carob trees, the lentisks, the gorse, the vineyards and olive groves of Crete constitute a picture of Arolithos. It is a village with cobbled streets and with houses, which have tiled roofs and terrace. Its architecture is genuine Cretan whilst the materials are also genuine old. Arolithos reminds our visitors how Crete was several years ago.In the village work some genuine craftsmen and Cretan artisans, such us the ironsmith, the potter, the weavers etc...

This attractive hotel affords a stunning panorama of a wild, romantic mountain landscape. The small town of Gázi, with a wide range of shopping facilities as well as numerous restaurants, diverse bars and cafes, is around 4 km away, the Minoan settlement Tílissos, is located around 3 km from the hotel. The tourist centre of Ammoudara and nightclubs are roughly 5 km away. The inviting beach and turquoise-blue sea are also roughly around 5 km from the hotel and can comfortably be reached by car. The next public transport stop is 10 km away and Heraklion is 12 km from the hotel. Here, guests will find plenty of interesting, cultural and historical sightseeing attractions, such as the History Museum and the Archaeological Museum. There are 2 airports in the vicinity (one is around 12 km away and the other is 15km away). Knossos Palace is only 20 km from the hotel and Phaestos Palace is roughly 80 km away, which are both well worth a visit.
