Travelled alone to attend a conference towards the end of September 2011. The Apollo is excellent value. I stayed in a twin-bedded
room on the second floor which has recently been refurbished. (I understand from staff that all the rooms are in the process
of being refurbished). My room was compact, but perfectly adequate - light, bright and modern. The well-lit, white and stainless
steel bathroom was particularly impressive, given the way it had been configured in a relatively small space. The staff were
all helpful, friendly and pleasant. The cleaning of the room was impeccable. I didn't take breakfast or eat in the hotel,
so unable to comment on that aspect. No problem with noise even though my courtyard room on the second floor overlooked the
entrance to the hotel. The Apollo is situated on the Hagley Road, on the western approach to the city, where lots of hotels
are situated. Taxis (extremely plentiful and efficient) cost about £5-£6 to get to and from the conference centre in Broad
Street, though being a major arterial route, there seemed to be lots of buses running along the Hagley Road.
