Lefkada is a Greek island with 117 km of coastline; it is linked to the Greek mainland by a long picturesque bridge. It has a combination of mountains and abundant vegetation. Its pretty beaches have fine white sand and its waters have different shades of blue. The most visited beaches are: Ai Yani, Kacisma, Peculia, Liya, Nidri, Vassiliki, Ayios Nikitas, Sivota, Porto Katsiki and Milo.
Take a look at the Venetian buildings in its capital, Leukade. The churches you can see include Ayios Minas, Ayios Spiridon, and Panphocrator. There are numerous interesting monuments in Lefkada, including a medieval acropolis.
From Nidri port, you can take a boat trip to visit some of the small neighbouring islands, where you will find hidden paradises, such as the famous island of Skorpios (property of Onasis). The mountain towns are very picturesque, and in them you can see women walking around in traditional costumes. You can get fantastic tapestries and embroidery in these towns. You can savour some delicious local food at the traditional taverns while you take in the magnificent landscape. For nighttime entertainment, there are numerous disco bars.
