Nördlingen is a town in the Bavarian district of Danube-Ries, Germany.
The town lies along the popular Romantic Way, which passes through some beautiful landscapes, including the one provided by the crater (ries) created by a meteor collision millions of years ago. Nördlingen’s most important feature is the medieval wall that surrounds the town and which is still complete. The wall has five main gates and eleven towers, which provide great views of the town and allow you to fully appreciate some of the lovely 14th century houses there. We recommend visiting the Cathedral of St. George, built between 1448 and 1499 in the Gothic style. It includes a 90 metre-high bell tower that provides excellent panoramic views of the city and the countryside around it.
Explore this beautiful medieval town, learn about an intriguing local history that includes the famous battle that took place here during the Thirty Years War, enjoy the scenery of the surrounding countryside. Visit Nördlingen!
