Rovaniemi is the capital of the province of Lapland, Finland. It lies between Mount Ounasvaara and Mount Korkalovaara, at the confluence of two rivers, the Kemijoki and the Ounasjoki.
In summer, it is a very lively tourist destination, with a lot of activities to enjoy. You can go hill walking or fishing, take a boat trip, do a safari, visit the Ranua zoo, see a reindeer farm, or view exhibitions, concerts and theatre plays. .
Visit SantaPark, a magical underground theme park, Santa’s House, or the Arktikum Science Museum, a real work of modern architecture. You can also have fun at night; this is the city with the most nightlife in Lapland. In winter, you will see how the snow shines under the light of the aurora borealis. You can carry out numerous activities: skiing, snowboarding, driving snowmobiles, and riding on dog or reindeer drawn sleds. At Santa sport you can relax and try out the traditional Finnish smoke saunas, or a gratifying mud bath. You may visit the same places, but you will find a totally different setting, depending on the time of year you decide to travel.
