Vejle is an attractive town in Denmark, located in the southeast of the Jutland peninsula, next to the fjord of the same name. The wooded hills around make for lovely scenery, and the town itself, although very modern, has much history, culture and charm.
Its pedestrianised streets are home to many shops, restaurants, cafés and some picturesque old houses. You can visit the Vejle History Museum, the Art Gallery and the Nature Museum. The town's oldest building is the medieval church of St. Nikolai -from the 13th century-, and the symbol of the town is the Mollea windmill, with its canal and dam on the Molholm Hill; in the medieval period there was a fortification on this site.
In the Vejle River Valley, there are any number of outdoor activities available for the visitor. It is the perfect place for a walk, or just to admire the landscape. There is also the possibility of a visit to Givskud Zoo, of taking an excursion to Legoland, or taking a trip on a steam train, which leaves Vejle and passes through Jelling, which has some important Viking sites. The hotels here are excellent, and whichever one you choose will offer you a great stay in Vejle.
