Soenderborg is the main town of the island of Als, to the southeast of Denmark's Jutland peninsula in the Baltic Sea, only 25 km from the border with Germany. It is a lovely city, full of life and history. Here you can visit the famous Soenderborg Castle, surrounded by attractive parks, restaurants and pubs. From the moveable bridge, which joins the island to the continent, you can see a fantastic view of this historical castle, and the best time of all is sunset, as this makes for a truly incredible background.

The area is great for sports like fishing, swimming, windsurfing, walking and cycling. You can visit Dyboll Mill, an important battlefield during the border disputes with Germany; the name ""Mill"" refers to the traditional windmill which is a living connection with the history of the place.

Soenderborg houses many educational institutions, and so the number of students makes the nightlife here active and cheerful.
