Larnaca is a coastal city in the southeast of Cyprus; it has an international airport, a modern marina, a lovely seafront promenade, good hotels, excellent beaches and many historical places to visit, such as the Acropolis of the ancient Kition or Choirokoitia. You can see the old mosque of Al Kebir, the Byzantine church of St Lazarus, the old fortress, the medieval archaeology museum, the church of Agios -with the tomb of Lazarus-, and the Byzantine Museum. Near the airport is Salt Lake, which is home to flamingos and other migratory birds.
The most famous beach here is McKenzie. You can try out all kinds of sports, including fishing, golf, cycling, swimming, diving and trekking. On Dasoudi Beach it is possible to do windsurfing, parasailing and waterskiing, among others.
Enjoy the nightlife, with its bars, restaurants, tavernas and clubs, especially in the Finikoundes Promenade area.
There are many traditional dishes, both Greek and Turkish, to try here. Enjoy the good seafood, fine Cypriot wine and perhaps follow the meal with a Turkish coffee.
