In 1979, the old town of Split (including the Palace of Diocletian) was declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

Among the city's main attractions is the imposing statue of Gregory of Nin. There is a legend about this which says that touching the statue's big toe means that your wishes will be granted, or it will bring good luck. We also recommend visiting the Palace of Diocletian.
