Manizales, in the Colombian province of Caldas, is located within the country's golden triangle of Manizales, Pereira and Armenia.

The Old Town is made up of buildings of different architectural styles, and you can see neo-classical, neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance buildings. The centre has been declared a National Monument, and its most important highlights include: the Plaza de Bolivar, the Gobernacion de Caldas, the Sanz building and the Archbishop's Palace.

The city is located on the west face of the central mountain range, in a region that is well-known for its coffee production.

Manizales is surrounded by spectacular mountains, with much greenery and easy access to the Nevados Nature Reserve, which is an important place in terms of the country's natural heritage. You can also visit the Los Yarumos Park, a very ecological place, and one for enjoying the great outdoors. One curious feature of the city is its ""Recinto del Pensamiento"" or ""Place for Thought"", a complex for those who want to switch off. Here you can enjoy a great many butterflies, orchids and a splendid lake, among other things.
