Fortaleza is a city in northeast Brazil. It is a centre for tourism, business and services and is located on the Atlantic coast.

For a good walk, go down the Beira Mar Avenue, from Mucuripe to the Bridge of the Englishman, in Iracema. Boat trips are an ideal way to get panoramic views of the city.
Visit Laguna de Banana, the Barra de Ceará, the old prision and customs house, the statue of Iracema, the José de Alencar Theatre, the Fishing district of Mucuripe and the museums of the railways and popular art. Don’t forget to go and see the Martyrs’ Square.
